The Greens

The Greens

Why am I voting for the Greens? Do I waste my vote? … Not at all, my preference goes to Labor. But if they get into parliament, they will be a voice for reason.

Here's the Greens: We will tax the billionaires & big corporations, and provide the things we all need for a better life.

This is the Greens policy platform:

Treaty with Aboriginal Australia.

The Greens will champion diversity, call out bias and bigotry and make sure that everyone has the opportunity to live free from discrimination.

Replacing coal and gas with 100% renewables.

No new coal or gas, 100% renewable energy by 2030. We have the chance to make Australia a renewable energy exporting superpower of hydrogen fuel.

Dental and mental healthcare covered under Medicare.

Bring dental and mental care into Medicare ... myself, I haven't been to the dentist for more than six years; can't afford it, like many oldies.

Wiping student debt and free education for all.

Fully fund public schools, hospitals and the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme). Free access to early childhood education; lifelong free TAFE and uni.

An end to all forms of discrimination; cleaning up politics.

Return integrity to politics and hold politicians accountable ... by banning corporate donations, ending the revolving door between politics and lobbyists and establishing a national anti-corruption commission with teeth.

Affordable housing and secure, well paid jobs.

How are the plans paid for? They are independently costed and can be paid for by making corporations pay their fair share, ending hand-outs to big business and closing tax loopholes.

Furthermore, the Greens will see to that billionaires - especially resources billionaires - will be taxed more.

For me the most important of their goals is that they will "Replace coal and gas with 100% renewables".

We have to ask ourselves: What do we want our world to look like? If we keep going like we were, parts of the world will become un-inhabitable.

This will not affect all of us, namely oldies like me; anyway, we have aircon and a beach nearby. But it would be disastrous for our children and grandchildren, for future generations all over the world ... but especially for our neighbours, namely the Pacific islands.

Their inhabitants will have to leave their homes. They will have to go somewhere ... Australia will be their destination.

Think about it.
